Learn to Explore and Study Wrecks of Historical and Cultural Significance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since\u00a02003<\/strong>,\u00a0IANTD Expeditions<\/strong>\u00a0has organised and conducted numerous\u00a0underwater expeditions<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0exploration, research, and study purposes<\/strong>, focusing on shipwrecks of\u00a0high historical value. These include iconic wrecks such as the\u00a0battleship Szent Istvan (Santo Stefano)\u00a0in the Adriatic, the\u00a0Wilhelm Gustloff\u00a0in the Baltic Sea, the\u00a0battleship Regina Margherita, the\u00a0hospital ship Po, the\u00a0troop transport King Umberto, the\u00a0destroyer Intrepido, the\u00a0torpedo boat Andromeda\u00a0in Albania, the\u00a0submarine UC14\u00a0in the North Sea, the\u00a0steamer Monrosa\u00a0in the Aegean Sea, and the\u00a0royal submarine Scir\u00e8\u00a0in Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, IANTD Expeditions collaborated with\u00a0CNR-IBE of Trento<\/strong>\u00a0for the\u00a0geo-positioning, survey, sampling, and dendrochronological analysis<\/strong>\u00a0of the submerged forest of\u00a0Lake Tovel (Trentino, Italy)<\/strong>. What is IANTD Expeditions Training?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To support its exploration and research projects, IANTD organises Expeditions Training Courses<\/strong>, aimed at divers who wish to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in official expeditions<\/strong> for the exploration and study of wrecks of great historical and cultural interest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Training Overview \u2014 What You Will Learn<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0theoretical part<\/strong>\u00a0of the IANTD Expeditions Training covers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    All theoretical lessons<\/strong> are conducted by highly qualified instructors and experts<\/strong> in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Practical Training \u2014 Apply What You Learn Underwater<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The practical diving sessions<\/strong> allow students to apply all theoretical knowledge directly underwater, forming a comprehensive and applied learning process<\/strong> that fits into both underwater archaeology<\/strong> and industrial archaeology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    One of the highlights of the course is the study and exploration of the Mohawk Deer wreck<\/strong>, located within the Portofino Marine Protected Area (MPA)<\/strong>. This unique opportunity is an integral part of the Expeditions Training and offers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • A chance to\u00a0enhance the historical and cultural value<\/strong>\u00a0of the underwater site<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Hands-on\u00a0measurement, surveying, and video-photographic documentation<\/strong>\u00a0of the wreck<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Practical exercises aimed at\u00a0reconstructing the wreck\u2019s layout<\/strong>\u00a0and identifying significant elements of the structure and engine system, contributing to\u00a0scientific and industrial archaeological studies<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Official Patronage and Scientific Value<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      On\u00a01 December 2021<\/strong>\u00a0(letter prot. 0001931), the\u00a0Management Consortium of the Portofino Marine Protected Area<\/strong> granted\u00a0official patronage to IANTD<\/strong>\u00a0for this educational project focused on the\u00a0study of the Mohawk Deer wreck<\/strong>. This recognition underlines the\u00a0scientific importance and educational value\u00a0of the training, which is also carried out in collaboration with\u00a0external scientific and technical consultants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        To date, IANTD instructors and divers from across Italy<\/strong> have participated in these expeditions and training dives, contributing to real scientific research<\/strong> and gaining unique field experience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
