A Dive into Portofino\u2019s Underwater Wonders<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Why is it called Diamond Rock?<\/strong> This dive site gets its name from a striking limestone clast embedded in the towering wall of the Portofino promontory, resembling a precious diamond<\/strong> set in stone. With vibrant marine life<\/strong>, dramatic rock formations, and breathtaking visibility, Diamond Rock is a must-dive site for enthusiasts of all levels.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd34 RED ROUTE \u2013 Depth: Up to 40m<\/strong><\/h2>\n

After a pre-dive check and bubble check<\/strong>, we descend to -16 meters<\/strong> near the buoy\u2019s anchor point. Our journey begins by finning southeast<\/strong>, following the landslide down to a maximum depth of -40 meters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What you\u2019ll see:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Huge brown groupers<\/strong> and snappers<\/strong> curiously following divers<\/li>\n
  • Octopuses, moray eels, conger eels, and lobsters<\/strong> hiding in the rocky crevices<\/li>\n
  • The first red gorgonians<\/strong> appearing below -25 meters<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    At the maximum depth, we continue along the left wall<\/strong>, gradually ascending through a series of boulder formations<\/strong>, creating unique swim-throughs<\/strong>. After about 20 minutes<\/strong>, we begin our return journey at -14 meters<\/strong>, where two tall pinnacles<\/strong> with a passage between them mark the approach to the chain.<\/p>\n

    Before surfacing, we explore a massive boulder<\/strong> at -10 meters to -5 meters<\/strong>, perfect for spotting more marine life<\/strong>while completing the safety stop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    \ud83d\udfe2 GREEN ROUTE \u2013 Depth: Up to 18m<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Following the pre-dive check<\/strong>, we descend along the buoy chain<\/strong> and arrive at -16 meters<\/strong>. With the wall on our left<\/strong>, we explore the rocky slope<\/strong>, maintaining a maximum depth of -18 meters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    What you\u2019ll see:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Octopuses, nudibranchs, starfish, anemones, scorpionfish<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Large groupers, snappers, sea breams, and corvine<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Occasionally, a school of tunas<\/strong> hunting in the blue!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      As we turn back<\/strong>, keeping the wall on our right<\/strong>, we ascend to -14 meters<\/strong> where the twin pinnacles<\/strong> signal the approach of the chain. The dive ends<\/strong> near the large boulder at -10m to -5m<\/strong>, where we complete the safety stop<\/strong>before surfacing.<\/p>\n
