The site also features <strong>a narrow siphon<\/strong> accessible only to certified cavern divers, making it <strong>a unique and adventurous experience<\/strong> for those with the right training.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"645\" data-end=\"1276\">The dive begins near a buoy and follows the wall in either direction, with depth profiles ranging from -18 m to -40 m. <strong>Marine life is abundant<\/strong> throughout the site, with frequent sightings of <strong>groupers, dentex, and barracuda<\/strong>, while the seafloor hides <strong>lobsters, moray eels, and octopuses<\/strong>. The area is especially popular for its underwater landscapes and the striking presence of <em data-start=\"1021\" data-end=\"1045\">Parazoanthus axinellae<\/em>, also known as <strong>sea daisies<\/strong>, which colour the shallow walls. La Colombara is best dived in calm conditions with good visibility and offers options for both recreational and experienced divers looking to explore something different.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"441\" data-end=\"473\">\ud83d\udd34 <strong data-start=\"444\" data-end=\"473\">RED ROUTE (down to -40 m)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"475\" data-end=\"486\"><strong data-start=\"475\" data-end=\"486\">DESCENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"488\" data-end=\"583\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"488\" data-end=\"583\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"490\" data-end=\"583\">After completing our pre-dive check, we\u2019ll descend near the buoy, reaching the base at <strong>-20 m<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"585\" data-end=\"597\"><strong data-start=\"585\" data-end=\"597\">OUTBOUND<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"599\" data-end=\"1689\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"599\" data-end=\"725\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"601\" data-end=\"725\">Once we reach the <strong>anchor block at around -20 m<\/strong>, we\u2019ll fin eastwards until we reach the rocky wall, keeping it on our left.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"726\" data-end=\"918\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"728\" data-end=\"918\">At <strong>-35 m<\/strong>, we\u2019ll find a <strong>small cave<\/strong>, only a few metres deep but rich in red coral. Opposite the entrance, resting against a rock, lies a twin-cylinder tank and a plaque in memory of a diver.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"919\" data-end=\"1034\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"921\" data-end=\"1034\">After visiting the cave (with a torch), we\u2019ll continue with the wall on our left, ascending to reach a plateau.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1035\" data-end=\"1138\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1037\" data-end=\"1138\">At <strong>-22 m<\/strong>, near a sandy tongue between the rocks, we\u2019ll find the <strong>entrance to a 10-metre-long siphon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1139\" data-end=\"1264\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1141\" data-end=\"1264\">Its upper surface is covered with delicate <strong>red coral branches<\/strong>\u2014great care must be taken not to damage them with fin kicks.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1265\" data-end=\"1361\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1267\" data-end=\"1361\"><strong>Only divers with excellent trim, buoyancy control, and a Cavern certification may enter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1362\" data-end=\"1496\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1496\">The <strong>exit at -18 m<\/strong> leads us back along the wall (still on our left), continuing until we reach a group of massive squared boulders.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1497\" data-end=\"1621\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1499\" data-end=\"1621\">Divers who cannot or prefer not to enter the siphon can continue the dive by skimming over the rocky formation above it.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1622\" data-end=\"1689\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1624\" data-end=\"1689\"><strong>Dentex, groupers, and barracuda<\/strong> are commonly spotted in the area.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1691\" data-end=\"1701\"><strong data-start=\"1691\" data-end=\"1701\">RETURN<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"2579\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"1837\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1705\" data-end=\"1837\">From the squared boulders, we begin our return route with the wall now on our right, heading back toward the bay where we started.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1838\" data-end=\"2000\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1840\" data-end=\"2000\">Nearing the bay, still with the wall on our right, we\u2019ll follow the cliff face until, at <strong>-10 m<\/strong>, hidden behind a large boulder, we spot the entrance to a cave.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2001\" data-end=\"2087\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2003\" data-end=\"2087\"><strong data-start=\"2003\" data-end=\"2034\">ENTRY IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN<\/strong> to those without a valid <strong data-start=\"2060\" data-end=\"2084\">Cavern certification<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2088\" data-end=\"2209\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2090\" data-end=\"2209\">Inside, a small siphon leads to a surface chamber where we can admire <strong>beautiful limestone formations<\/strong> along the walls.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2210\" data-end=\"2279\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2212\" data-end=\"2279\">Overhead, a natural chimney allows light to filter in from above.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2280\" data-end=\"2392\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2282\" data-end=\"2392\">Only divers with a <strong data-start=\"2301\" data-end=\"2333\">Cavern or Cave certification<\/strong> may request a guided path from Diving Group instructors.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2393\" data-end=\"2579\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2395\" data-end=\"2579\"><strong>Exiting the cave at -6 m<\/strong>, and keeping the wall on our left, we\u2019ll reach a stunning wall between 6 and 8 metres deep covered in <em data-start=\"2522\" data-end=\"2546\">Parazoanthus axinellae<\/em>\u2014commonly known as &#8220;sea daisies&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2581\" data-end=\"2591\"><strong data-start=\"2581\" data-end=\"2591\">ASCENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2593\" data-end=\"2690\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2593\" data-end=\"2690\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2595\" data-end=\"2690\">We\u2019ll perform our <strong>3-minute safety stop at -5 m<\/strong> here, then fin south-west to return to the boat.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"2692\" data-end=\"2726\">\ud83d\udfe2 <strong data-start=\"2695\" data-end=\"2726\">GREEN ROUTE (down to -18 m)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2728\" data-end=\"2739\"><strong data-start=\"2728\" data-end=\"2739\">DESCENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2741\" data-end=\"2807\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2741\" data-end=\"2807\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2743\" data-end=\"2807\">After the pre-dive check, we\u2019ll begin our descent near the buoy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2809\" data-end=\"2821\"><strong data-start=\"2809\" data-end=\"2821\">OUTBOUND<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2823\" data-end=\"3530\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2823\" data-end=\"2949\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2825\" data-end=\"2949\">At <strong>-18 m<\/strong>, we\u2019ll fin eastwards toward the rocky formation, where we\u2019re likely to encounter <strong>dentex, groupers, and barracuda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2950\" data-end=\"3083\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2952\" data-end=\"3083\">Continuing in the same direction, still at -18 m, we\u2019ll come across some <strong>massive squared boulders<\/strong>\u2014our signal to begin the return.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3084\" data-end=\"3176\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3086\" data-end=\"3176\">With the wall now on our right, we\u2019ll fin toward the bay for the final part of the dive.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3177\" data-end=\"3327\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3179\" data-end=\"3327\">At the entrance to the bay, <strong>between 6 and 8 metres<\/strong>, we\u2019ll admire a gorgeous wall covered in <em data-start=\"3271\" data-end=\"3295\">Parazoanthus axinellae<\/em>, the so-called &#8220;<strong>sea daisies<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3328\" data-end=\"3420\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3330\" data-end=\"3420\">Continuing with the wall on our right, we\u2019ll find an <strong>opening at -6 m<\/strong> above a large rock.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3421\" data-end=\"3530\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3423\" data-end=\"3530\">With a torch, we can light up the inside of the cave\u2014<strong data-start=\"3476\" data-end=\"3529\">ENTRY IS FORBIDDEN WITHOUT A CAVERN CERTIFICATION<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3532\" data-end=\"3542\"><strong data-start=\"3532\" data-end=\"3542\">ASCENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3544\" data-end=\"3694\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3544\" data-end=\"3694\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3546\" data-end=\"3694\">We\u2019ll carry out our <strong>3-minute safety stop at -5 m<\/strong>, then leave the wall behind and fin around 15 metres out toward the open sea to return to the boat.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3696\" data-end=\"3743\"><strong data-start=\"3696\"
