This dive site is located on the eastern side of zone C of the AMP about 150m before the Portofino lighthouse. The wall is located under a terrace. There is no mooring buoy but the boat can drop anchor. In this site you dive when there is sea from SOUTH-WEST with south-westerly wind and you are unable to turn the tip of the lighthouse.
The seabed consists of terraced walls inhabited by red and yellow gorgonians, sponges, spirographs, nudibranchs of various species. In the countless ravines live morays and conger eels.
Around us the presence of groupers, snappers, sea bream is constant and in the winter it is easy to meet monkfish perfectly camouflaged with the rocky seabed lying on the rocks.
RED PATH (up to – 40 meters)
After the boat has dropped anchor we will get ready and after a pre-dive check we can begin our descent.
As there is no mooring buoy we will go down near the Promontory. At -8 meters we will take as a reference point a statue depicting a diver [see photos in the images] which was placed in 2001 to commemorate Maurizio Fabrin, boatman and friend of various divers, including our friend Fiorella Bertini who contributed to the installation. With the side of the wall to our left we will reach a depth of -35 meters and we will begin to fin zigzagging along the whole wall, gradually rising in altitude.
Among the branches of red gorgonians we will be able to see numerous colorful nudibranchs, to the delight of photographers! At about -25 meters a set of large boulders create passages and grottos where numerous brown groupers find their home. Going up again, many ravines in the rock hide octopuses, moray eels and conger eels.
Arrived at -5 meters during the 3 mn stop, a colorful Donzella pavonina will keep us company. For safety, before going out we will launch a signal balloon given the frequent passage of boats.
GREEN PATH (up to -18 mt)
After the boat has dropped anchor we will get ready and after a pre-dive check we can begin our descent. As there is no mooring buoy we will go down next to the Promontory. At -8 meters we will take as a reference point a statue depicting a diver [see photos in the images] which was placed in 2001 to commemorate Maurizio Fabrin, boatman and friend of various divers, including our friend Fiorella Bertini who contributed to the installation.
Our descent will begin by exploring the SOUTH side of the wall in a zig zag way up to -18m. We will meet numerous brown groupers, snappers and barracudas in the blue hunting among the damselfish schools. The ravines present in the rock hide octopuses, morays and conger eels.
The ascent instead we will do it from the north side until we reach the altitude of -5 meters where we will make our stop of 3 minutes.
For safety, before going out we will launch a signal balloon given the frequent passage of boats.
