Teach First Aid, CPR, and Emergency Care — Essential Skills for Everyone

Do you want to teach life-saving skills that go beyond scuba diving? The PADI Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor course trains you to teach CPR and first aid based on internationally recognised guidelines. As an EFR Instructor, you’ll be able to offer emergency care courses to anyone — divers and non-divers alike — making it one of the most versatile and valuable certifications in the dive industry.

At Diving Group Portofino, we offer professional EFR Instructor training in the beautiful surroundings of Portofino Marine Protected Area, Italy.

Who Should Take This Course?

CPR and First Aid are essential life-saving skills that are important for everyone, not just scuba divers. As a PADI Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor, you will be qualified to teach internationally recognised CPR and First Aid courses to anyone, not only divers.

The great advantage of EFR courses is that they are designed to make learning easy and effective, creating a comfortable and supportive environment where students can practice emergency care skills. After completing the course, your students will feel confident and prepared to help someone in need.

To enrol in the EFR Instructor course, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care training (CPR and First Aid) within the past 24 months

Note: The EFR Instructor certification is required to become a PADI Instructor, but you don’t have to wait until you start your professional training — you can complete or refresh this qualification during your PADI Instructor course.

Why Become an EFR Instructor?

  • Teach crucial life-saving skills — CPR, first aid, and emergency care are valuable for everyone, not just divers.
  • Increase your career opportunities — Many dive centres prefer hiring instructors who can also teach EFR.
  • Offer stand-alone courses to individuals, schools, businesses, and groups — Expand your professional reach beyond diving.
  • Prepare for your PADI Instructor training — EFR Instructor is a required step toward becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI).

What Will You Learn?

As an Emergency First Response Instructor, your role is to coach and guide your students while creating a positive and effective learning experience.

During the course, you will learn how to:

  • Structure and organise EFR courses
  • Create a positive learning environment
  • Coach students through practical emergency care exercises

You will also practice how to teach and manage an EFR course following PADI standards.
