THE COURSE

The IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver course has been structured in order to train divers who wish to dive to depths between 40 and 60 meters with open circuit equipment, using trimix mixtures that allow them not to be subject to any form of narcosis, or keeping it within low and controlled limits. The course is therefore suitable for those who do not want to breathe compressed air at depths greater than 40 meters and nor suffer from its narcotic effects.

COURSE OVERVIEW
IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver has been prepared to train divers to safely use trimix mixes up to a depth of 60m. The advantages of using a trimix blend essentially derive from the reduction in the percentage of nitrogen in it. In its place is put a percentage of helium which is a gas that produces much less narcosis than nitrogen and provides various advantages, among which the greatest is to maintain lucidity in depth. Topics covered include diving history with mixtures, physics, physiology, equipment configuration, training, dive tables, calculation of repetitive dives. Practical sessions include how to safely handle trimix mixtures, how to analyze them, training in confined water and three (3) dives. The IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver course increases students’ general knowledge of diving. At the end of the course, the International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers will issue the relative patent.

PREREQUISITES OF THE COURSE
Have the IANTD Advanced EANx Diver certification or equivalent.
Be 18 years old.

COURSE MATERIALS
During the course it is mandatory to use the IANTD NORMOXIC TRIMIX DIVER manual with the related dive tables and analysis stickers. The dives must be recorded in the appropriate dive book and signed by the instructor.

DURATION OF THE COURSE
Five (5) theory lessons, confined water, three (3) dives with mixes with a maximum of 30% helium (He) and a minimum of 20% oxygen (O2) at a maximum depth of 60m.
