Advance your scuba diving education

The SDI Advanced Scuba Diver was created to provide divers with an advanced-level certification.

You will be qualified to dive to a maximum depth of -30 metres, where you can discover red coral and swaying red gorgonians.

Unlike the SDI Advanced Adventure Diver Specialty Course, which only provides an overview of the specialties taught, this course requires an Open Water diver to have completed 4 SPECIALTY COURSES and have 25 logged dives. The Deep Diving specialty must always be included in this course.

Who this course is for:

  • Any certified open water diver who wants to expand their diving knowledge and skills
  • Any certified open water diver who wants to enhance their dive training
  • Any SDI Advanced Adventure Diver or equivalent who wants to gain more experience in the specialties explored during the SDI Advanced Adventure Diver programme

Course prerequisites:

  • SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, SDI Junior Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent
  • Minimum age 18, or 10 with parental consent

*Note: Junior divers (ages 10–15) may only take specialties approved for their age

SDI Advanced Diver minimum requirements:

  • Complete four SDI, TDI or ERDI Specialty Diver courses or equivalents; only one non-diving specialty may count towards the SDI Advanced Diver Development programme, excluding SDI Computer Nitrox
  • Proof of 25 logged dives
  • Once the above requirements have been met and verified by an instructor, the instructor issues the SDI Advanced Open Water Diver certification by submitting the SDI Diver Registration Form to SDI Headquarters or the appropriate regional office, or by registering students online through the SDI Members’ Area
  • The requirements for the SDI Junior Advanced certification include the above, provided the four specialty courses completed are approved for the diver’s age.
